LITTLE ONES
We'll help take care of the bubs so you don't have to (as much as possible).
We've been there... it's not easy to sit back and relax if you're stressing about your little ones. For our Aussie/UK friends, we will have baby sitters on the night to help out, so let us know so we can plan around numbers. We do ask that any older (Swedish) children stay at home and enjoy a night with a baby sitter, however for any little ones that still need their mummy and daddy close do feel free to bring them along (just give us the heads up!)
IN THE SPIRIT
Some Weird Swedish Traditions:
Seating and Speeches.
Yes the rumours are true, you will not be seated with your partner (don’t you get enough of them during the year anyway?). Trust us when we say that we only surround ourselves with fabulous people so you can feel confident you’ll be seated with some exceptional human beings.
Speeches: anyone can do a speech. Yep. BUT, it needs to be pre-communicated to our toastmaster AND can’t go over 5 mins.
Please email oliver.wirstrom@gmail.com to book.
Planning
NEVER HEARD OF KALMAR?
It’s the beautiful town, 15,477 km’s from Sydney, on the south east coast of Sweden where Karin and her family moved when she was 14 (all the way from the island Öland, 20 minutes over the bridge!).
It’s famous for the beautiful Stagneliusskolan where both Karin, her mum, and sister & brother went to school…it’s also home to Kalmar Theatre where Karin used to perform with her dance school (her rendition of Mickey Mouse when she was 3 is still one of the theatre’s most talked about performances).
Kalmar is now also on the top 3 of Tom’s list of favourite destinations (Not really, but he doesn’t know I wrote that) and obviously the place we’ve chosen to play a very special part in our lives. If you really want to blend in…please try and pronounce it like the locals “Kaaaaamaaaa”. Enjoy.
To get to the beautiful city of Kalmar we suggest you either fly or get a train. If you need help with pick-ups from the airport or station please contact our travel guide here
Get a train from Stockholm to Kalmar C Station. You can also get a train from Copenhagen to Kalmar if you like.
WHERE TO STAY
In anticipation (and advanced preparation), Karin set aside 26 rooms at a local hotel over a year ago.
Clarion Packhuset in Kalmar
Please use reference “Karin & Tom Wedding”. This is where we will be staying… just saying 💃🕺.

Other options
1. Air BnB
We would suggest staying in or close to the following areas: Stensö (This is where the castle is located + Karin’s parents live here), Kattrumpan, Gamla Stan or Kvarnholmen
2. Slottshotellet
3. Calmar Stadshotell
WHAT TO DO
Apart from spending lots of time with us, drinking bubbles and enjoy getting to know each other… you can also explore Kalmar and the beautiful island of Öland
Gifts
We're already asking a lot from (some of) you to travel all the way to Sweden. Your attendance at the wedding is more than enough for us so just bring yourself, your party spirit and lots of energy and fun!
However, if you're stubborn little SOBs and still wish to shower us with more kindness, there will be a wishing well at the wedding. Alternatively, you could use the below registry and we can collect the gift once we’re back on the ground in Australia.
